After Roberta and I met, back in 2000, we decided to produce a CD together that expressed our feelings about having found each other - thus was born this CD, Dance With Me. All the songs express our feelings about the long-term committed relationship: Let’s Stay Together, You Are My Lady, Baby I Love You, Let’s Get It On, etc. And since Roberta is from Detroit, and we both love Motown music, we decided to focus on those kinds tunes.

We selected the songs with great care, as always, and it was a fun project sifting through all the great Motown tunes we’ve been hearing all our lives. And arranging them was a great fun, too. Transforming a great classic into a smooth jazz groove can be a challenge, but once done, a real pleasure listen to and perform.

As always, the players are magnificent. My usual band: the great one-take wonder, Doug Mathews on drums; my long-time partner and co-conspirator, Chris Sidwell, on bass;” the multi-talented arranger and keyboardist Tony Campodonico on piano; and the unique and wonderful talented Sanjay Divecha on guitar. Also, on this CD, the versatile and talented John Pickell sits in on percussion.

This CD is special to me, for sentimental reasons as well as professional reasons. Roberta and I are both very pleased and proud of it. It has a very nice mixture of cool groove and romance that we think is very appealing. We hope you agree!
