Song-A-Week, Week #2

Lookin’ For Adventure

The title for this tune comes from the melody: da-da-da-da-da-da. “Lookin’ For Adventure,” which to me is reminiscient of that lyric in the great ’60’s rock anthem from Steppenwolf, Born To Be Wild:

Get your motor runnin’,
Get out on the highway.
Lookin’ for adventure,
And whatever comes our way.

I wrote this song a couple of years ago, and it’s been sitting on the back burner, simmering.

Technical notes: As usual, I play or program all the instruments. I’ve added tabla in this tune for seasoning, some sitar-like guitar parts, and and the violin sound at the end is a Chinese fiddle called the Erhu. I think these sounds lend a nice international feel to the tune.

Also, there are some nice background sax section parts sprinkled throughout this tune. I love doing these little sax sections; it’s about as much fun as I have in the studio, and is one of the elements that makes my signature style.

Hey, get thee out Lookin’ For Adventure!
